We have addressed the most frequently asked questions regarding GFSSM. If you were unable to find an answer here, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at info.gfssm@gmail.com and we will be more than happy to assist you.
Question:
How can I register to the qualifying round?
Answer:
The GFSSM is organized by country or region. If you are unsure about which region you belong to, please send us an email and we will be happy to assist you in making contact with the appropriate coordinator. You can then register through them.
Question:
What should I do if there is no coordinator in my region?
Answer:
In this case, you can directly email us to register, obtain the RFP, and submit your proposal. If you complete a high-quality proposal and are willing to participate in the global on-site event, we can invite you to Global Finals as a specially invited team. We hope you can help spread the educational program to your country or region and strive to enter the GFSSM community in the future.
Question:
We heard that GFSSM is participated in by teams. How many people are required to be in each student team?
Answer:
During the Qualifying Round, students have the option to form teams of 6 or 12 individuals. Teams consisting of 6 members are referred to as the Explorer Division, while those consisting of 12 are referred to as the Scholars Division. The design task for the Scholars Division is slightly more intricate than that of the Explorer Division.
At the on-site event, multiple student teams will be randomly drawn to form several joint companies. The size of the companies may vary from 30 to 50 people, depending on the number of participants.
Question:
How can I become a coordinator of GFSSM?
Answer:
We have only one Coordinator in each country and region. If there is no Coordinator in your area yet and you can demonstrate your ability to organize GFSSM events, please send us an email. We will provide guidance on how to organize events, mentor teams, and design curricula. If there is already a Coordinator in your area, we will assist you in getting in touch with them and hope that you can collaborate to promote space education.
Question:
What should we do if we are a new team and don't know how to design?
answer:
No worries. Once you have registered for the event, we will send you tutorials, along with the RFP, which offer step-by-step guidance for new teams. Additionally, we will provide you with moderate-level proposals completed by previous students, as well as reference materials, such as websites and books, for your perusal. Our past experience has shown that the vast majority of teams were able to complete the design challenge of the Qualifying Round after studying these materials.
